Shelly Waters was born and raised in Rayne, Louisiana, the heart of Cajun Country. Her musical journey began at an early age, playing rhythm guitar in a Cajun French music band by age 11 and then fronting her her own country band by age 12. Now living in Charleston, South Carolina, Shelly performs as a solo artist with a mix of originals and covers from a wide variety of artists from Fleetwood Mac to NeedtoBreathe and Patsy Cline to Sheryl Crow...a diverse repertoire with a song for everyone in the crowd. Her passion for music, captivating stage presence and deep South Louisiana roots shine through every performance.
A recent collaboration with Shrimp City Slim to modernize South Louisiana's swamp pop sound from a woman’s point-of-view led to Shelly's debut CD, Swamp Pop Princess. Hear that creative blend of Gulf Coast rock’n’roll, Cajun tradition, old-time country and New Orleans-style rhythm & blues when she performs with Shrimp City Slim as a duo or with the Shelly Waters Band.
Stay tuned for the next all original CD due out in 2014 when Shelly ventures out as a singer/songwriter on the country music scene with a collection of her own songs.
